NetBeans has a built-in memory monitor to show the memory status of NetBeans. Besides showing the current memory consumption we can forge garbage collection by clicking on the graph. To enable the memory monitor we must go to View | Toolbars and then select Memory. A new toolbar is added with a graph of the memory consumption of NetBeans:
